About Me

In ten years of teaching, one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had, is watching a student perform their favorite song in front of an audience. There is a lot of young talent and promise in the next generation of guitarists.

I started playing guitar at the age of 12 and played Rock/Heavy Metal genres. In college, at the University of Texas at San Antonio, I earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music with a concentration in Guitar Performance. It was a great time for me as I was privileged to study guitar from Dr. Matthew Dunne. During my time in college I was fortunate to meet and perform for many great classical guitarists like Judicael Perroy and Manuel Barrueco. In 2009 and 2010 I received awards for “Outstanding Guitarist” in solo and ensemble categories and other awards from various competitions. In 2012 I won the annual UTSA Concerto Competition. The winners performance concert was a highlight of my performing career.

The first years of my teaching career, I worked in various studios in San Antonio and offered in-home lessons. In 2014, I started working with the Musical Arts Center of San Antonio, and in 2015, I took the position of Guitar Director at Alamo Heights High School. In that same year, I created the San Antonio Youth Guitar Orchestra (SAYGO). As I have transitioned into a teaching career, I find it more pleasing for my students to win awards than myself directly. My top students have competed in state level competitions, enrolled in college for music, performed at the Tobin Center, and earned awards for UIL and TAPPS.

I love the Spurs, training for my next triathlon, learning new languages, film, art, and wine. I hope that every student finds their lessons with me to be fun and engaging.
